Course Overview

The SANDAG Housing Policy Leadership Academy (HPLA) provides diverse leaders and housing professionals with a free, in-depth forum to explore and develop equitable, inclusive policy solutions to increase housing production and affordability in your community and region.

Participants are expected to commit approximately 3 hours per week for 10 weeks to explore the root causes of the housing crisis and discuss best practice policy solutions that address both the physical and social factors that underpin a healthy housing ecosystem using the 5Ps Framework:

Who should apply?

Prospective applicants who are seeking an opportunity to improve their professional competencies, propel their careers forward, and provide meaningful solutions to the housing crisis are encouraged to apply. Graduates from the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Please note that the Housing Policy Leadership Academy curriculum is designed for mid-level housing industry professionals who have a foundational understanding of the housing policy ecosystem.

Course Schedule

The 2024 SANDAG Housing Policy Leadership Academy will meet every Thursday from 3:00-5:30 P.M. between March 7th and May 9th. 

The sessions on March 7th and May 9th will be hosted in-person at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation; remaining sessions will be hosted online via Zoom.

Housing Policy Bootcamp
Course Overview

The SANDAG Housing Policy Bootcamp is a free course that provides HPLA graduates and dedicated housing leaders with the opportunity to dive deeper into leadership and coalition-building strategies and to apply the 5Ps framework by developing a pro-housing policy proposal and presentation. 

Participants are expected to commit approximately 3 hours per week for 5 weeks to explore leadership and coalition-building strategies while working with a team to prepare a policy proposal and presentation.

Who should apply?

Housing professionals who are interested in a hands-on learning environment where they can bring pro-housing policy ideas to life are welcome to apply. Graduates from the course will receive a certificate of completion.  

Please note that while prior enrollment in a Housing Policy Leadership Academy is encouraged, it is not required; however, all participants are expected to demonstrate community leadership capabilities and knowledge of the housing policy ecosystem.

 

Course Schedule

The 2024 SANDAG Housing Policy Bootcamp will meet every Thursday from 3:00-5:30 P.M. between May 16th and June 13th.

The session on June 13th will be hosted in-person at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation; remaining sessions will be hosted online via Zoom.
